Emma Snipe – Bellavista Centre

Although she was born in a small village in the south-east of England, Emma spent the larger part of her adult life in Bristol, where she studied Sociology and then worked for several years before deciding take a year off to travel the world. The adventure took her to Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Latin and South America.

Back in England, she returned to her studies with a Masters in Criminology. It was while she was job-hunting that her mother suggested TEFL teaching as a means of combining her love of travel with a bankable skill. “I hadn’t thought of it before,” she admits, “but it seemed the perfect solution. I love teaching English and now can’t imagine doing anything else!” This is her third year [of many more, we hope] at Hello. “The thing I enjoy most about my job is getting to meet so many interesting people, pupils and teachers alike. It’s very interesting to me to see the differences in our languages and how they affect the way we express ourselves.”

Aunque Emma nació en una aldea en el sureste de Inglaterra, conoce mejor Bristol, ciudad donde estudió su grado en Sociología y donde trabajaba antes de decidir a lanzarse a un viaje por el mundo. La aventura duró un año y le llevó a Asia, Australia, Nueva Zelanda y las Américas.

De vuelta a Inglaterra, se dedicó a otro de su intereses, el de estudiar, en forma de un Masters en Criminología. Fue cuando estaba buscando empleo que, a sugerencia de su madre, se formó como profesora para que pudiera combinar su gran pasión de viajar con el empleo. “No lo había pensado,” afirma, “pero me parecía la solución perfecta. Ahora me encanta dar clases de inglés; ya no me imagino haciendo otra cosa.”

Este ser su tercer año [de muchos más, esperamos] con Hello. “Lo que más me gusta de mi trabajo es conocer a tanta gente interesante, tanto compañeros profesores como alumnos. Me parece muy interesante explorar las diferencias entre los dos idiomas y como estas nos influyen a la hora de expresarnos.”
